    The Block delivers deep insight into how the emerging digital assets sector interacts with traditional finance, technology, governments, and markets. We reach hundreds of thousands of technologists, financial market participants, Fortune 500 professionals, global service providers, policymakers, and more through our main website, dedicated Research Portal, podcast, and events.
    You will be responsible for developing new features, optimizing performance with respect to both our backend and frontend stack, developing and supporting solutions for product analytics, and capturing feedback from our logging and debugging services to both troubleshoot and make improvements.
    An effective Software Engineer should be able to effectively communicate with the team and develop solutions between back-end and front-end implementations and concerns. The ideal candidate must be able to prioritize tasks and complete them in a timely manner.

    You Will

    • Be responsible for features in our product suite
    • Collaborate with our engineers, researchers, executives, and designers to develop new features
    • Troubleshoot issues that may be affecting our products or infrastructure
    • Clearly communicate development progress across the Product & Engineering team
    • Work with team managers on development prioritization and career development opportunities
    • Contribute to the culture of quality, transparent collaboration and leading by example

    Must Haves

    • 2 or more years as working professionally as a software engineer
    • Desire to learn on an ongoing basis and tackle technical problems
    • Creativity in solving engineering problems
    • Positive approach to receiving and giving feedback
    • Knowledge of common software design patterns and responsive web frameworks

    Good to Have

    • Experience with digital assets, crypto, and blockchain technologies
    • Knowledge about source control software such as git
    • Familiarity with Unix / Linux operating systems and general command-line knowledge
    • Experience using code reviews and pair programming within the Agile Development lifecycle

    • Full-stack experience and able to contribute to both frontend (Vue, Vuex, Nuxt, service workers, PWA) and backend (Nuxt, php, composer, xdebug, nodejs, SQL, Redis, memcached) systems.
    • Deep technical skill with frontend technologies (SASS, LESS, Bootstrap utilities, TailwindCss or other similar).
    • Strong familiarity with Unix / Linux operating systems and general command-line knowledge.
    • Experience with git in a collaborative environment such as Github.

    • Be a part of building a new data offering that supports our Research and Data Dashboard products.
    • Collaborate with our engineers, researchers, executives, and designers to develop new data capabilities.

    • Build a monitoring tool and maintain data pipeline flows and performance.

    Qualifications

    • Knowledge of Database systems (SQL, PostgreSQL) and ability to manage databases.
    • A strong skillset of backend programming languages like Python.
    • Knowledge of data warehousing solutions (We use AWS Redshift)
    • Knowledge about source control software such as git and general command line knowledge
    • Experience with ETL processes
